Italy Essentials

School Project: Travel Publication

Design Process

For the sake of tourism, many vacation and retreat locations really push to promote their offerings. However, whether it is by television, digital advertising, or print collateral, they struggle with trying to stand out amongst the sea of others doing the same thing. Companies must develop strategies to motivate a viewer to stop and interact with their materials in some way.  For this assignment, I created a travel publication with this in mind and created an Italian Essentials booklet.

Fold Out

This map is hand illustrated in Procreate, the line work and the background. The quarted to the right , where the compass is, is a fold out that folds over toward the left.

The red text is the fold out that is on the other side of the map. After this the booklet begins discussing the places that are marked on the map. to keep constancy the map was added next to every headline of each city in Italy that the travel guide covers.

Double Gate

These two large photos are in the middle of the book and are the entry to a double gate. After pulling back these two photos the booklet opens up to the pages below that discusses some of the the small towns along the Almafi Coast that tourist should vist.

Double Fold Out

This Rome section of the booklet is the last fold out of the booklet and it is a double fold out . This spread starts on the Rome head line page on the right and the colosseum photo on the left. The fold out is the sectioned to where the Colosseum info is revealed once it’s pulled out.

The two sections in red type are the sections that fold out as the double fold out. When folded up the Trevi Fountain section is the visable section.
